"You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others." -Marianne Williamson - Developer of MYTHOS for Creatives, a program focused on waking artists/creatives up to their vital roles as prime functionaries of an emerging global mythos—i.e. the overarching worldview, or “story” a culture accepts about itself and its place in the universe. - "Myth must be kept alive. The people who can keep it alive are artists of one kind or another. The function of the artist is the mythologization of the environment and the world." -Joseph Campbell
MISSION: As a “Creative,” I embody the role as one of many vehicles through which pours the current mythos for the global community: studying the mythological foundations of my being, achieving a personally relevant understanding of the myths of the past; deeply regarding my dreams, visions and interior messages; and sharing my insights with others through the medium most appropriate to my specific competencies and experience (i.e., music, writing, social/cultural development projects, and more).
TEACHERS: Joseph Campbell, Abraham, Eric Pepin, Alan Watts, Ken Wilber, Alex Grey, Marianne Williamson, Robert Bly, Thom Hartmann, Peter Russell, ... GREATEST POWER: Love/Compassion
CREATIVE TALENTS: Music, production, teaching, ... "There is an almost sensual longing for communion with others who have a larger vision. The immense fulfillment of the friendships between those engaged in furthering the evolution of consciousness has a quality almost impossible to describe." -Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
I DREAM
DREAM OF BLISS: To follow it without fear.
DREAM OF WISDOM: To embody it through walking the path.
DREAM OF LOVE: To give and receive it.
DREAM OF POWER: To honor it and let it work through me with Love as my Navigator.
DREAM OF VISION: To be true to its purest expression.
DREAM OF SERVICE(s): To enter into every action as an act of it.
DREAM OF CREATION: To connect with my Creator by being a creator.
I perpetuate active awareness of myth, art, and human cultural history (basically all history). Personal inquiry ...spiritual cognizance ...aesthetics ...and so on. Generally, the fundamental components of creative alignment.
BELIEFS & RELIGIONS: All of them to a certain extent.
HAPPINESS:
What is Your Most Profound Belief? I can't say I know how to answer that question. A stated belief seems to inevitably be accompanied by a kind of planned obsolescence...and I just hate to be wrong ;^) Perhaps I can only offer what you've experienced already on this page to serve as a glimpse into my working hypothesis for navigating life with a sense of grace, aplomb, and mission.
This seems like a good space. I'm looking forward to exploring, connecting, learning.
So, about me...
When I discovered Joseph Campbell's work in the early '90s, I was deeply attracted to his emphasis on art. Since then I've explored the creative impulse with particular focus on the role of the artist within the context of a newly emerging mythos—i.e., the overarching worldview or “story” a culture accepts about itself and its place in the universe.
Campbell insisted that a living, effective, mythological system functions by putting the subject culture in accord with the natural order. When an individual or a group is living in accord with nature, then nature yields its bounty.
Looking at our planet today, the mythos by which we live, on a collective, global level, is not placing us in accord with nature, let alone with each other. “Dysfunctional” or “ineffective” are more accurate descriptions of our current state of environmental harmony. This position obviously requires qualification, so consider it merely an initiator of dialogue. Disclaimer aside, from what I've read on this site, this seems to be well understood at deep levels.
As a “Creative,” I strive to embody the role as one of many vehicles through which pours the current mythos for the global community: to study the mythological foundations of my being, achieving a personally relevant understanding of the myths of the past; to deeply regard my dreams, visions and interior messages, and take personal guidance from them; and to share my insights with others through the medium most appropriate to my specific competencies and experience (i.e., music, writing, social/cultural development projects, and more).
I also activate artists to realize this in themselves...
