While we were waiting for landerslove2u chat to start, we talked a little about some raw food recipes. The guy who runs the produce department at my local health food store made this for a gathering and I loved it (and I can't stand the fishy taste of seaweed). The seaweed is really masked by the other flavors.
As requested, here is the recipe:
SEAWEED FRUIT SALAD
1/2 cup Walnuts (Soaked 8 hours and chopped.)
1/2 cup Dried Kelp, Chopped Small (Soaked for 3 hours, drained and rinsed thoroughly.)
1/2 cup Dried Dulse, Chopped Small or Use Flakes (Soaked for 10 minutes, drained and rinsed thoroughly.)
4 Medium-sized Sweet Apples, Peeled, Cored and Shredded In Food Processor
4 Medium-sized Carrots, Shredded In Food Processor
3/4 Cup Raisins
1 Cup Dried Coconut or Shredded Fresh
Zest from 1 Orange, 2 Lemons and 2 Limes (Just outer part of skin, not white part.)
1 1/2 Cups Fresh Orange Juice
Juice of 1 Lemon and 1 Lime
Thoroughly mix all ingredients in a bowl. Let sit for several hours, mixing from time to time to let tastes blend together.
SHOPPING LIST FOR RECIPE:
1/2 Cup Walnuts
1/2 Cup Kelp
1/2 Cup Dulse
4 Medium-sized Sweet Apples
4 Medium-sized Carrots
3/4 Cup Raisins (Preferably Sun-Dried)
1 Cup Dried Coconut (Or Fresh)
1 1/2 Cups Fresh Orange Juice
2 Limes
2 Lemons
Enjoy!

I'm going to give this a try as well.I love seaweed and revel in the iodine and rare minerals it imparts into my system.Walnuts, carrots and apples.Yummy Waldorf tastes, meeting salty sea tasting kelp and dulse. The lime gives it just enough zest, to marry the flavors completely.I'm going to mix coconut milk in equal parts to Orange juice and skip the dried coconut......I like how you give us desert after reading your page.
