| | POWER VS. FORCE: THE HIDDEN DETERMINANTS OF HUMAN BEHAVIOR By Dr. David R. Hawkins Power vs. Force: The Hidden Determinants of Human Behavior is a wonderful book containing a wealth of information on consciousness, spirituality, and vibrational levels. In this book, Dr. Hawkins utilizes kinesiology (often called “muscle testing”) to investigate and calibrate the different levels of consciousness. Through years of testing and research he has been able to prove that through the human experience consciousness and truth are one in the same and has been able to create a “Map of Consciousness”. This Map of Consciousness correlates the human experience to an energy level on a scale from 1 to 1,000. The lowest energy level on his scale is Shame (20) and the highest is Enlightenment (700-1,000). This energy level calibrated on the Map of Consciousness can also be called “vibrational level” or “level of truth”. The book goes into great depth explaining the different consciousness levels and the psychology and attitudes tied to each. In the book the Map of Consciousness is in the form of a chart. I would love to post it here for you, but unfortunately due to copyright laws am unable to do so. Some examples of the low end of the scale are Guilt (30), Fear (100) and Anger (150). People experiencing this level of consciousness feel victimized by the effect of those around them or the forces of the universe. Dr. Hawkins tells us that energy levels below 200 are most common in extremely primitive conditions where survival is difficult, clothing sparse, illiteracy common, infant mortality is high, and disease and malnutrition widespread. Dr. Hawkins states that the critical energy level is Courage (200) because this is when power first appears. He describes how when he tested subject’s energy levels below 200 they all went weak and in response to energy levels above 200 they all went strong. People in the low 200’s on the vibrational scale are usually involved in unskilled labor, rudimentary trade and the building of simple artifacts. Higher on the scale is Neutrality (250) a group represented by skilled labor, blue-collar workers, tradesman, retail commerce, and industries. Willingness (310) is where technicians, skilled and advanced craftsmen and routine managers are found. Reason (400) is what Dr. Hawkins describes “the level of awakening of the intellect” where true literacy, higher education, the professional class, executives and scientists can be found. Love (500) is a point where awareness makes a giant leap in both power and quality because all is affected by the motivation of Love. At this vibrational level excellence is common in every field of human endeavor. At the highest end of the scale of human experience (600-1000) are the qualities that transcend duality. According to Dr. Hawkins, few people progress to level 600, and if they do the individual’s life may become legendary. The book also goes as far as to calibrate some of the world’s great leaders, political and spiritual. The book digs even deeper and explains thought as energy, measures it in microwatts, and can mathematically explain how people at higher vibrational levels can counterbalance those at lower vibrational levels. For example, one individual at 700 counterbalances 70 million individuals below 200, one individual at level 600 counterbalances 10 million individuals below level 200, one individual at 500 counterbalances 750,000 individuals below 200, one individual at level 400 counterbalances 400,000 individuals below 200, and one individual at 300 counterbalances 90,000 individuals below 200. Dr. Hawkins also explains how these counterbalances keep mankind from self-destructing and how a few loving thoughts during the course of the day can counterbalance the negative thoughts. His testing shows that the consciousness level of the general population has slowly begun to rise starting in the mid-1980’s. Also included is a chapter entitled “The Search For Truth” providing and interesting overview of the vibrational levels of the different religions and their leaders. According to Dr. Hawkins’ testing “truth” is complex and varies according to a persons level of consciousness, for example what is true for a person at Love (500) is not necessarily true for someone at the level of Anger (150), and that a person’s truth may change after evolving to a different level of consciousness. Most importantly, through this book we are taught how we can take steps to raise our vibrations and move up the Scale of Consciousness, ultimately causing the evolution of humanity to a higher level of consciousness and truth. Power vs. Force, the book itself, calibrates at a level of 850 on the Scale of Consciousness. Dr. Hawkins’ testing also proves that reading this book and being exposed to the information it contains will raise an individual 35 points higher on the Scale of Consciousness. It is also interesting to note the fact that as a young boy Dr. Hawkins was involved in a mystical experience which eventually led him to this study of consciousness and vibrational energy levels. This book definitely caused a shift in my consciousness, so much that after I had finished the book I immediately started it again because I knew that I would understand it differently the second time around.
