| Moisturizers | RICH & CREAMY FACIAL MOISTURIZER 3 tlbsp Coconut Oil or Butter 3 tlbsp Sweet Almond Oil 2 tlbsp Rosehip Oil 1 tlbsp Shea Butter (preferably wildcraft) 3 tlbsp Rose Water 2 drops Essential Oil of choice for Scent (optional) 1 1/2 tlbsp grated beeswax 3 x 50ml Glass or Plastic Storage Jars 1 x Stick Blender for mixing Sanitized jars are required for the completed product for storage. This should make approximately 3 x 50ml pots. To sanitize jars I just immerse them in boiling water with a little white vinegar for 3 minutes, caution should be taken with plastic lids as they only tolerate about 2 minutes. Prepare your pots first and set on a clean cloth to dry. Bring to a simmer some water in a pot that will support a bowl suitable to place ingredients in to slowly and gently melt oils. Once the water has heated, turn down to a gentle simmer and place all the oils and beeswax in the supported bowl to gently melt, stirring occasionally. As soon as the butters and beeswax has melted, remove bowl and allow to cool for a few minutes. Now add the rose water to the oils. My method from here is to use a stick blender to combine and aerate mixture as it cools, blending for a minute or two then leaving for a couple of minutes and repeating until the mixtures starts to thicken and stick to the sides of the bowl. Next, pour your thickened mixture into your prepared jars, leave lids off and allow to completely cool. Once cool you can then place lids on and "Voila" your very own homemade delicious moisturizer. As you can see from the recipe it does NOT contain ANY preservative whatsoever, so I recommend keeping it in a cool place and using it within about 10 weeks. Note : I usually have an extra jar on hand in case I end up being a bit more generous with the ingredients. It is a versatile recipe that can be played with according to your desire. One of my favourite parts of making this is being left with utensils covered in this delightful blend which I use to bless my body with a FULL BODY MOISTURIzE to complete the process! | tfc11 |
