Remember that the phrase "a lot gets lost in translation" was never more true than about text only conversations. Think about how you use skype. I've been known to step away from my computer right in the middle of a topic. Some times I answer posts, sometimes I just nod, which of course doesn't make it into the chat. This isn't disinterest, I know the comments will still be there when I return. You might think I'm thinking or napping or mad or too sad to answer but those are really just your thoughts and that voice you hear reading my words is your own.
With healthy boundaries it's easy to allow space for the responses and ideas of others. In the name of good communication it's important to verify what we think we just read when we don't have the real life clues like voice inflection or body language. In this community we are of mixed language, mixed custom, mixed socialization. When in doubt ask, dare to ask. I had a friend who used to say "I always expect the best from everyone I meet and I'm never disappointed."
Because this hopes to be an up to the minute view of what is happening around the planet, the information here will be diverse, some times amazing, sometimes even troubling. I don't have to buy a ticket to every show, and I can take what I read with a "grain of salt". I used to tell my children, when they were frightened by something on TV; just look into that monsters eyes, and you'll know it's fake. Now we are in interesting times, powerful technologies and curious agendas, that require us to keep our sovereign centers more than ever before.
